Two new models of ThinkPads were announced by Lenovo. The new notebooks will offer optional 4K displays. The high-performance machines will incorporate for the first time ever Intel's professional-class Xeon processors. The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 and P70 are designed for users who need mobility as well as large amounts of computing power.
With memory options up to 64GB of RAM, ThinkPad P50 and P70 from Lenovo are offering the most memory on any mobile workstation, according to the company. The notebooks also feature two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports for super-fast data transfer and up to 1TB of SSD storage.
The Xeon processors from Intel powering both machines use the new Skylake architecture an update in the company's strategy of improving chips. The CPUs are built with the same 14nm process as its previous processor Broadwell, however, it is architecturally improved. All these features are making the mobile PCs from Lenovo very powerful.
The P50 and P70 are not only the first laptops to incorporate Skylake chip architecture, but they're also coming with a stylish design, lightweight and slim like the new MacBooks at 12-inch. According to AnandTech, the 15.6-inch P50 is weighing 5.6 pounds and the 17-inch P70 weighing 7.6 pounds respectively.
The high-class notebooks from Lenovo come with a price tag according to their high performance. The prices for the P50 start at $1,599 while the P70's prices start at $1,999. Customers have the possibility to choose the preferred operating system.
Among the available choices are included the new Windows 10 from Microsoft, Windows 8.1, 7 or Linux Ubuntu. Various choices of touch displays and 4K screens are also available. The P70 ThinkPad is also offering an optional DVD-RW drive, something that many PC users have forgotten about.
Lenovo unveiled details about its new ThinkPad notebook models on August 10. They are expected to be launched on the market in the fourth quarter this year. The two new models will set new standards of power and performance for the mobile PC industry.
