Thirty-eight Emojis Will Be Introduced Next Year

Nothing can express our reactions online better than Emojis. The cute characters have gone beyond just being smiling or frowning yellow faces to emphasize feelings on the screen. Over the years, Emojis have evolved to include gifts to indicate celebrations, and other objects that indicate places and other occasions.

Fans of the cute Emojis will be excited to welcome thirty-eight new characters, official candidates that have been accepted to be part of the 2016 update. The characters have most recently been updated in April this year, which has brought in the racially diverse Emojis.

The new batch of characters, which are expected to come in mid-2016, will make announcements more spot-on. According to Tribune, baby and wedding announcements will not have to be conveyed through the gift Emojis anymore. The 2016 update will be including a pregnant woman and a wedding couple.

Also in the new batch are Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, a Pinocchio lookalike Emoji and a male partner for the dancing lady. The facepalm will also be rolling out with all the other ones. Hand gestures like fist bump, fingers crossed, handshake and call me are also set to arrive in 2016.

For Emoji fans who are also foodies, good news. The bacon Emoji has just been accepted to be part of the 2016 update, so expect to see it in chat conversations soon. Emojis are expression images that are used in chat apps and text messaging. They are supported by Windows, Android and iOS operating systems.

In the late 90's, the tiny ideograms have begun to be used in Japanese mobile devices. Emojis have originated in Japan. The characters, however, have won fans all over the world and have quickly been rolled out to international mobile platforms.

Illustrator and graphic designer Joshua M. Jones created the Unicode 9 emoticons. Emojis are downloadable from app stores.
