New BlackBerry Venice Leaks Show Slider Keyboard

Canada-based company BlackBerry has been rumoured to be preparing its newest flagship, which is codenamed Venice. The device has been the subject of several leaks that made their way to the internet. Just a few days ago, a leak from a popular gadget tipster's Twitter account gave a glimpse of what's in the new smartphone.

On Sunday, Aug 30, new images of the BlackBerry Venice have appeared in tech websites. The latest leaks show the device from different angles, which provided a view of the smartphone's slider keyboard feature. The feature has been much-speculated on, and the images seem to prove that it's actually real.

Apart from the slider keyboard, the latest BlackBerry Venice leaks also show the smartphone's USB port and SD card slot. The alleged device is equipped with a 5.4-inch display. The Indian Express notes that the new smartphone has a rear camera with a high-resolution 18-megapixel capacity.

The BlackBerry Venice is powered by the Android Lollipop 5.0 operating system. The new product will be BlackBerry's first Android device, should it really materialize and reach the market. The company may well be relying on the alleged upcoming device's sales to reclaim BlackBerry's peak condition.

Last week, leaked images show that the new Android device will come with BlackBerry's productivity suite. The suite includes Calendar, Hub and Documents To Go among others. Also said to be pre-loaded in the new smartphone is BlackBerry's Communication Suite and Security Suite. All in all, the rumoured upcoming smartphone has almost twenty pre-installed apps.

The leak proved an online tech writer to say that the new BlackBerry device is "not a stock Android phone." BlackBerry has not confirmed the BlackBerry Venice as of yet. But judging from how netizens follow details about the alleged device, Venice looks like it's a much-awaited product for the company. BlackBerry has reached its peak in 2009 and 2010.
