New iPhone and iPad To Come With Force Touch Display

A few days before Apple formally introduces its latest iPhone, the iPhone 6S, reports about the upcoming iPhone have already surfaced. And it is said that the company's newest smartphone will be equipped with a new feature. Earlier iPhone models have already come with the force touch feature. But this time around, with the iPhone 6S, the function has been upgraded.

According to a report from website Indian Express, the upgraded for touch feature will probably be known as 3D Touch Display. The name is indicative of the feature's ability to distinguish among three different levels of force on the surface, namely, the "tap, press and deeper press." Other Apple devices like the Apple Watch and Mac computer trackpads are able to distinguish between two levels of pressure.

The 9to5 Mac report indicated that the new function will mean shortcuts in using apps. For example, in using the Maps app, the user will have to point to a specific navigation point. Then he would have to click on the logo and a separate button to begin locating the place. With the 3D Touch Display, the user will be able to skip two steps and begin navigation right away.

Apart from the new iPhone 6S, the reports also said that the 3D Touch Display feature will be coming to the iPad Pro as well. Some functions of the new feature are still being tested. This includes shortcuts that appear after Force Touch has been used on an app icon. The 9 to 5 report also indicated that some of the gestures of the features will be coming from Mac computers.

There certainly are many ways by which the U.S. tech giant will be able to make use of the new 3D Touch Display function, which it will equip its devices with. The iPhone 6S and the iPad Pro will both be announced during Apple's launching event in San Francisco, on Sept 9, Wednesday. Along with the two devices, Apple will also be launching the new Apple TV, which comes with an upgraded motion sensor remote control.

Apple will be live streaming the event and the company's followers will be able to watch it using Safari, the company's web browser. For the first time, Apple will be making the webcast accessible to Windows 10 users as well, via the new Microsoft Edge browser.
