While new devices and flagships are currently being launched in the IFA event in Berlin, and Apple has announced a San Francisco event to launch its newest iPhone, the iPhone 6S, Google has been widely reported to launch its new Nexus smartphones in a Sept 29 Nexus event. The company will be unveiling Nexus models which are powered by the Android Marshmallow operating system.
The Nexus 5, which has originally been released last year, will have be unveiling an updated version this coming Sept 29, according to a report from Dispatch Times. The smartphone has been rumored to be made by LG in association with Google. Leaked images of the handset have made their rounds online, adding more speculations regarding its specs. This reportedly includes a larger battery, which means a longer battery life. The device is also reported to be equipped with a USB Type-C port and is widely speculated to house a high-resolution camera.
Along with the Nexus 5 2015 comes a Huawei Phablet. The two devices will be rolling out the Android 6.0, aka the Android Marshmallow operating system. The Android Marshmallow OS will also be coming to the newest OnePlus smartphone, the OnePlus 2. The device is more affordable than the Nexus 5X, but since one can only acquire OnePlus smartphones in an invite-only basis, the Nexus 5 2015 model stands a chance.
The Sept 29 event for Nexus has earlier been reported by CNET. A release of the Nexus 5 2015 on the same day has also been reported by other tech websites. Details regarding pricing and availability have not been disclosed by Google. The search company has not issued an official announcement about the release date and the pricing.
Google has developed the Android Marshmallow over the last months and has introduced it in early August this year. The new OS equips devices with longer battery life and increased customizability for devices.
