Windows is still making waves in online tech news months after the much-hyped launch of Windows 10, Microsoft's newest operating system. Windows 10 itself has been a frequent subject of tech news headlines, as it has been plagued by issues regarding its functions and upon its release has been used to spread a malware attack.
Now, Windows'mobile division is taking the spotlight for recent issues and announcements regarding the company's phones. Last week, the company has announced that the support for camera-related apps in Lumia phones will end on Oct 30. This is a bid to push the usage of Windows 10 apps and services among its own devices. According to ZDNet, there are Six Lumia camera apps -- Lumia Beamer, Lumia Storyteller, Lumia Panorama, Lumia Refocus, Photobeamer and Video Uploader will be phased out in favor of Windows 10 camera apps.
Last week, Windows mobile builds for Windows Insiders have been reported to be delayed. The in-demand build for Windows 10 Mobile has been requested by Insiders from the software company and Microsoft took to its official blog post to address the delay and give updates about the new mobile operating system. The new operating system has been slated to come to more than ten Lumia models upon its release.
Microsoft said, "We may have some issues (which we'll note as known issues for builds we flight), but we know we get the best feedback from Insiders who are really able to use these builds normally and then tell us what they think." The software company indicated that the team has been working to come up with fixes for the issues it has recently discovered.
Late last month, the Windows 10 Mobile beta has been reported to eat away 8GB worth of storage on mobile devices. Lower-end handsets only have half the storage size of that required by the beta version of the new OS. The Windows 10 rollout has been faced with other issues about the operating system itself, and not just regarding its mobile division.
Windows 10 users were reportedly banned from using torrent websites. And on the earlier days following its release, there has been a confusion about who is eligible for the free Windows 10 upgrade. Hopefully, Windows will get in the headlines for good news in the following days.
