Last week, Sept. 9, Microsoft's surprise appearance in the Apple launching event has dominated tech headlines in the internet saying that "Hell has frozen over." As it turned out, the software giant was there to present its line of productivity apps for Apple's newest tablet device, the iPad Pro. Microsoft will be bringing in Office and Adobe to the new iPad.
And it is all for productivity's sake. An Apple executive has admitted it: Microsoft knows productivity. And multitasking is a feature Apple fans have long been looking for in the iPad. Now, what Microsoft has introduced in the Apple event will be rolling out to the iPad Air 2 and the newly announced iPad Pro, at the same time, the iOS 9 is also being rolled out.
The Microsoft Office Suite will be supporting Apple's mutitasking vision for the new iPads. Likewise, the software will be coming to the Cupertino-based tech company's latest operating system. This brings in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and OneNote to the Apple devices. New features will also be coming with the apps, according to Tech Times.
Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint will have keyboard shortcuts when they press the "cmd" on the iPad keyboard. Website 9to5 Mac also said that new features in the app include Outlook attachments automatically opening in Word, Powerpoint or Excel. Outlook for iPad will also be coming with shortcuts that allow users to switch tabs while composing emails.
Outlook now enables users to view their presentation and key points at the same time. The newly-announced iPad Pro features a pen device called 'Apple Pencil'. The pen can be used as a highlighter and a marker for such documents made using the Office Suite as well. The Office apps have begun rolling out to the devices on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Microsoft also supports the 'TimeTravel' feature in the Apple Watch operating system, watchOS2, which lets users view their appointments using Outlook.
