The Japanese car producer Toyota has declared to have sold more than 8 million hybrid automobiles all over the world. The proclamation comes 20 years after the presentation of its first hybrid concept car. Being active in the progress of new hybrid technology, the said car manufacturer also carries on to sightsee and find alternate selections.
At the Paris Motor Show in 2014, the brand unveiled a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle that has since revolved into the Mirai, hydrogen-fueled deprived of any carbon dioxide discharges and more than 300 miles of self-sufficiency. Initially launched in Japan in 2014, the car will soon be dispersed to the United States and in some parts of Europe starting September 2015.
The Japanese product, which opened up the gates for such hybrid gas-electric powertrain, sees hydrogen cars as the end-game -- following plug-in hybrids and full-electric vehicles, new forms of the fuel cell car, for crossovers or SUVs as being premeditated at Toyota.
Toyota's new regional chief officer, Johan van Zyl, told the reporters on the sidelines of the Frankfurt auto show that it is just a matter of when the hydrogen technology will go mainstream. Also, Toyota Europe anticipates sales of between 50 and 100 Mirai's this year as well as in the succeeding year -- having 47 pre-ordered units at the moment. The hydrogen Mirai is only set to be available at the following European countries: Belgium, Britain, Denmark and Germany. Thus, Toyota is mere occupied on getting hydrogen pumping locations with other local associates.
Karl Schlicht, Toyota Europe's sales chief, believes that the current customers include government bodies and companies bearing in mind to decrease their carbon productions. He expects the technology to be reasonable for regular customers by 2025.
Toyota's Europe branch traded 880,000 automobiles in 2014 -- having said to be higher for about 3 percent from 2013. Twenty percent of the sales were hybrids. Schlicht also estimates sales will be down at around 1 percent to 2 percent this year due to the trade and industry slowdown in Russia.
Van Zyl, however, supposes hybrid transactions to cultivate with the launch at Frankfurt show of the all-new RAV4, which for the first time will also be presented with a hybrid powertrain, joining the Yaris, Auris and restyled Prius.
