Unlikely To Have PS Vita Successor

A PlayStation Vita successor is unlikely to come for the next few years. Such a console to exist is unhealthy due to popularity of smartphone gaming.

In the course of the Eurogamer Expo event, PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida made commentaries regarding a successor to the PlayStation Vita may not be likely. When questioned about a PlayStation Vita 2, Yoshida stated that the current video game weather is not healthy for such a platform to be existent due in part to the rise in reputation of gaming on tablets and smartphones.

Mr. Yoshida said that the potential PlayStation Vita 2 is a tough question as many people have mobile phones and it is so easy to play games on smartphones, and many games on smartphones are free, or free to start. He also stated that he is huge fan of the PS Vita and that PlayStation's team have worked really solid on designing every feature. The touch-based games are amusing and there are many games with really good design, but having sticks and buttons make things totally different.

In addition to that, Yoshida was enquired about the likelihood of a new Wipeout game coming soon. Though designer Sony Liverpool is padlocked, Yoshida believed Sony has a never say never outlook about having Wipeout back someday, and the same can be said for other inactive Sony goods.

A spectator also asked about the chance of a Killzone remastered package for PlayStation 4, not unlike Uncharted's Nathan Drake Collection. Yoshida did not rule it out, but stated that Sony would need to find the right companion to make it materialize, if it ever does.

The PlayStation executive also assessed that only about half of existing PS4 users possessed a PS3. Remastered packages are a good way to be updated with franchises they may never have played.
