The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus have been launched to much anticipation and hype earlier this month. It seems that everyone has been waiting for the latest iPhone models months before they have been unveiled in the Sept. 9 Apple event in San Francisco. Every time Apple kicks off with a new iPhone, the same excitement, anticipation and speculation of whether or not the new model is better than its predecessor welcomes the new iPhone.
And this has also been happening to the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Apple has reported that weekend sales of the new iPhones have surpassed analysts' prediction of 12-13 million units. This is a record for the company's marquee product. Although the iPhone models have impressed in their weekend sales, IDC analyst John Jackson said that Apple investors are still questioning whether the iPhone 6S will be able to surpass the iPhone 6's sales, which brought the tech giant its most profitable year.
According to a Yahoo News report, Apple's shares have fallen by 1 percent. Sales of the iPhone 6 have reached 10 million units, not including China, on its opening weekend. Jackson said of the situation, "Topping what the iPhone 6 achieved looks like a tall order, even for Apple, with its history of outdoing itself." Analysts said that the record sales are assured for the iPhone 6S's opening weekend. Others think that Apple is on pace in increasing the iPhone sales slightly from the iPhone 6 numbers.
Analyst Shannon Cross of Cross Research has said of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus figures, "It's indicative of the strength of Apple that you have at least as many people wanting the iPhone 6s." The weekend sales figures include the U.S., U.K. and Australia. That Apple has been able to generate consumer interest with few improvements on the latest iPhone is impressive. The demand for iPhone 6S and 6S Plus in China is also looking "white hot".
The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus runs the iOS 9, Apple's newest operating system. The new OS equips the phones with improved features in Apple Maps and News, and also includes the split-screen view. The new phones have been rumored to be waterproof and have been tested for the property by websites such as CNET. The new iPhones may just be highly water-resistant, but not waterproof as what other sites say.
