Mazda Unveils New Sports Car With Tokyo Concept

Mazda Motor Corporation will be revealing a slick spots car concept. It will first be seen at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

The unnamed sports car concept promises to mix essentials from the company's legacy with a modern and sleek shape. It deceptively takes the form of a two-door, front-engine coupe that is always a beloved structure, with a pitched roofline and typical hood-to-greenhouse proportion.

Mazda will hold the world debut of a new concept sports car variety at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, which runs from Oct. 30 to Nov. 8. A total of 14 types will be on exhibition at the Mazda stand, together with the crossover concept Mazda KOERU making its first debut in Japan, two racing-spec Mazda MX-5s, and the Cosmo Sport that was first announced in 1967.

The design of the concept sports car to be revealed in Tokyo is fresh but upholds a sense of authenticity and heritage, looking almost to summarize Mazda's entire antiquity of sports car designs into a single variant.

In line with Mazda's theme for the Tokyo Motor Show this year, the company will make a plea for the trademark's distinctive style to driving preference. In addition to the concept sports car, Mazda KOERU will be on exhibition along with new-generation prototypes featuring KODO and SKYACTIV Technologies. A motor sports display will comprise of racing-spec MX-5s and the Cosmo Sport will balance a heritage spectacle showing Mazda's antiquity of convention-challenging ingenuity.

The sports car concept will be displayed alongside the KOERU concept which returns home for its Japanese debut, a handful of Miatas, and the classic 1967 Cosmo Sport 110S which is the marque's original rotary-powered sports vehicle. Spectators will have a good feeling that it is the latter from which the new concept predominantly draws its creativeness, although with different proportions than the long-tailed innovation.
