OnePlus is one of the most popular startups to come into the international smartphone market. The Chinese company has already released a smartphone this year in the form of a new flagship, the OnePlus Two. A few months ago, rumors have circulated about a possible second release from the startup, this time a mid-range smartphone.
Dubbed the OnePlus Mini, the rumored device is, as the suggests, smaller than the flagship handsets. It has been said that the device will have a 5-inch screen size. According to Austroid, while the device has not been confirmed by OnePlus, leaks have already provided a preview of the specs. The mid-range smartphone is reported to run a MediaTek Helio X10 processor. It clocks in a 2 GB RAM.
The dual-SIM OnePlus Mini also has a 32 GB storage which can be expanded via microSDXC. The screen is protected by a hydrophobic and oleophobic coating and is covered in 2.5-D Gorilla Glass, making it dust and water resistant. It has not been specified if it is Gorilla Glass 3 or 4. The new device has a battery capacity of around 3,000 mAh. It has a USB Type-C connector and supports QuickCharge 2.0.
The rumored smartphone is said to be priced at around $250. Release date falls on either November or December this year. OnePlus' Carl Pei has already confirmed that the startup will be launching another phone apart from the OnePlus Two. Now, especially since leaks have already been circulating, the OnePlus Mini is most likely the newest device up for release.
Although the device falls under the mid-range category, it has also been rumored to be able to load 3-D games in 720p, which seems to compensate for the lower- capacity Helio chipset. If this were true, it is quite a feat for a mid-range device. Now there is only November and December to wait for.
