Predicting the weather can be very difficult. With the Sunshine Weather app, things can be more accurate as it gathers up-to-the-minute crowdsourced weather reports.
Nobody has a clear idea of how the weather really is out there. These days, however, people can download a weather app on their smartphones and be updated with the weather. With Sunshine's Weather app, people will be updated with the latest and most accurate weather forecasts and real-time weather conditions.
Launching on Apple's App Store, the Sunshine weather app is a crowdsourced weather application. To do so, the very people using Sunshine app and updating to these crowd-sourced weather forecasts will have even more precise weather information than if they used any other source.
"Predicting weather is hard. Traditional weather companies use satellites that only see the big picture while weather stations are far and few between. But weather - how we experience it and what we feel - happens on the ground where we are," Sunshine's post on its site.
Sunshine is a grid of millions of smartphones generating outcomes that are on average 3x more precise. Visualize that Sunshine as an asset in the future of weather forecasts. The more smartphones on Sunshine, the better the weather forecasts.
So, if the weather bulletin says it is going to be too hot in the area, but it is still raining, just update the app with an announcement that it is too sunny. In doing so, users get arbitrary points for their contribution, which either makes them feel great compared to their peers or possibly even lets their reports have more weight depending on how Sunshine is set.
Sunshine also allows its users to set temperature preferences that can project certain temperature past its comfort zone. Once its users use this, the app will give a notification that one should probably bring an umbrella that day or it will just be a sunny day.
