Google Wants Docs To Replace Microsoft's Office In The Workplace

For years, Microsoft's Office has been an essential part of the workplace. From writing reports to presenting slides, Redmond's suite of documentation tools has proven to be a mainstay in businesses and schools. However, Google wants to change all of that as the search engine giant takes certain measures to get different enterprises use Google Docs

According to recent reports, Mountain View wants the enterprise to use Google Docs over Microsoft Office. Google is willing to cover the company's Docs costs if it is still in an enterprise agreement with another service provider until the contract expires. Google will even chip in with some of the deployment costs involved to help its users get settled with Docs.

"Word processing and spreadsheet programs are the mainstay of office productivity software. Let's face it: without a great way to write memos, crunch numbers and flesh out ideas, you can't get any meaningful work done," wrote Richard Hao, Head of Global Sales for Google Apps for Work. "For a long time, productivity software was a bit like a midsized sedan: sturdy, dependable, loaded with features and a little dull,"

Google believes that its offer is a cheaper alternative. The company also suggests that companies with basic enterprise agreements and no dependencies can potentially score big savings of up to 70 percent for businesses that will switch to Google's Apps for Work.

Google is first bringing its latest offers to firms based in the United States and Canada, with other regions already in the works to bring Apps for Work to Mountain View's global markets. Those who are interested can find out more about Google Apps for Work on the company's official website so that they can see what Google can do for them.

The search engine giant is actively working on powering its Google Docs as it adds more features and missing functionalities. In the latest update, Voice Typing and Explore are now added to bring more ways to attract users.
