Microsoft has opened its flagship store in New York on Oct. 26, Monday. The Redmond-based tech giant already has 113 stores in the United States, but the latest Microsoft store is built to showcase the company's products. With two floors, the glass building immediately ushers customers to see Microsoft's many devices and services.
A report from USA Today said that the newly opened Fifth Avenue store immediately showcases first-party Microsoft products. Upon entrance, customers are welcomed by the company's line of tablet devices, Surface. There is also a section dedicated to the company's very first laptop, the Surface Book. A little farther to the sides are the Xbox One game machines. A few more steps in will get customers to see Microsoft's mobile devices.
The flagship store also displays Microsoft's future products, such as the HoloLens virtual reality headset and the Microsoft Band fitness tracker. Deeper into the spacious floor is an array of products from Microsoft's partner companies such as Dell, HP and Lenovo. Kelly Soligon, Microsoft's general manager for worldwide marketing said that the company is proud of its first party products, which is why they are immediately visible.
The store also has a designated floor for Microsoft events such as Girls Who Code. The new flagship store has 160 employees which assist the customers. They get their own lounge at the store's fourth floor. All in all, the store, which resembles a mall, has more than five floors. The Microsoft store does not have noticeable cash registers, as the new establishment supports mobile payments.
Apart from the products, the flagship store also offers many free services for Microsoft users. Soligon said that regardless of where a Microsoft device has been purchased, the buyer can take advantage of the store's repair services. The company is set to open a flagship store in Sydney, Australia, this coming Nov. 12.
