Spotify is arguable the most popular music streaming service nowadays, and users will naturally want the service to work in different platforms. The service is already a fixture for Android and iOS device owners, letting users listen to curated playlists on-the-go and also select their favorite tracks from artists they follow. Recently, Spotify has been announced to finally be able to work in another media platform.
The first- and second-generation Chromecast, Google's media streaming service, got a firmware update that supports Spotify. According to a report from The Market Business, the music streaming service has had an update a week ago with support for casting on Google Chromecast. The firmware update on Chromecast is expected to have already rolled out to the 2013 users, the year for the original version of the media streaming device.
Should the firmware be found to still be unavailable to the 2013 version, users may simply reboot the app or force install the firmware, according to Engadget. Once Spotify already works with Chromecast, the app will be able to automatically detect and sync with other devices, which are playing on the user's Chromecast network. This means that he will be able to control another playlist, which is streaming near him from his smartphone.
Spotify for Chromecast has initially been met with some problems, and the lack of first-gen support was one of them. Also, Chromecast Audio could not work without a premium subscription.
Now that Google and Spotify are able to solve the issues, users of both platforms will be able to enjoy both at the same time. Chromecast has released to good feedback two years ago. The device is much more affordable than other services, which offer similar functions.
Spotify, on the other hand, has just recently been named the top-selling app in the Apple App Store, beating the company's own music streaming service, Apple Music. Spotify has garnered 22 million members who use the paid app, while 55 million others are using it on a trial basis. Now that Spotify already works in the original Chromecast, the number may just increase further.
