Some Siri Answers Are For Apple Music Subscribers Only

Voice assistants have already become a fixture in smartphones and other electronic devices. They are readily available to help remind users of dates and tasks. Plus, they also give ready answers and aid in internet searches and sending out messages. They can also be a lot of fun, and that is what Apple's voice assistant Siri is known to be for many. The virtual assistant comes up with forthcoming and witty answers.

But this time, it seems that Siri is holding back some answers from other iOS users. Users have been used to asking Siri pretty much everything, even the silliest questions, and Siri will answer. Now, some of its answers are reserved for Apple Music subscribers. A report from NBC News has confirmed that Siri only gives answers to questions about music charts to Apple Music subscribers.

Siri gives the following response to non-subscribers: "Sorry, I can't look up the music charts for you. You don't seem to be subscribed to Apple Music." Pandora co-creator Tom Conrad tweeted a screenshot of Siri's response in surprise. Conrad tweeted, "I guess Siri won't talk to you about music unless you pay her boss." Conrad asked what is currently the most popular song in the U.S.

Music charts are part of Apple Music, but information about it can be accessed when looked up in the web and with the question phrased differently. And of course, Siri will still make web searches for users. This may indicate that the omission may not be intentional and that it may have been the result of a bug.

Apple Music is only a few months old, and it is the company's answer to bigger, more established music streaming services like Spotify. Spotify has been reported to be the top-selling app in the App Store, shortly after Tim Cook announced that Apple Music has reached 15 million users, 6.5 million of which are subscribers and 8.5 million of which are currently participating in the 90-day free trial.
