While the world may be going crazy of hoverboards after "Back to the Future" day arriving, it goes without saying that it will still be far off for it to hit the roads and that it is still science fiction nevertheless. However, a startup wants to go back to the good old days were commuters go with old-fashion bicycles, albeit one that is foldable and electric this time around. That is what the Gi FlyBike is all about.
From three Argentinean entrepreneurs come the Gi FlyBike - a fully connected electric bike that wants to reinvent how people roam around in the cities. The new electric bicycle is currently in its Kickstarter campaign, and it already reached a total pledge of USD $373,963 past its original USD $75,000 goal with six days left at the time of writing. Reportedly, it will also be up for sale on Amazon Exclusives, the company's online store that features new and coming brands.
The Gi Flybike is an electric smart bicycle that is maintenance-free and foldable. It comes with 26-inch wheels created specifically for the future of urban commuting, and its body is crafted from ultra lightweight aircraft grade aluminum. It iss designed to give people the freedom to ride without the excess or restraints that come with traditional bikes.
It comes with an app that will enable its users to directly access and control the different features of the Gi FlyBike. It has a GPS system as well as LED smart lights. Through the app, riders can also control the bike's smart lock feature to secure the bike automatically once they are 10 feet away from it.
The people behind the Gi FlyBike last year launched a Kickstarter campaign for the first iteration of the bike that validated their concept. It had gained massive attention, with thousands of website mentions and reports from over 400 media publications.
