Huawei has steadily become one of the key players in the smartphone industry as of late. As a matter of fact, Google went with the Chinese manufacturer to make its recently unveiled Nexus 6P. Now that Huawei is beginning to dominate the market, it's making huge strides to further its presence. According to reports, the company has just hired former Apple creative director Abigail Brody to be its chief user experience designer.
Huawei has big ambitions ahead. Their recent employment of former Apple creative director, Brody, as the company's chief UX designer is a big hire - although Brody has not worked for Apple since 2011, she has been greatly considered as the company's most influential alum.
The news was reported by a wave of Chinese tech sites even before Huawei made an official statement regarding the appointment. Huawei afterwards released a statement in Mandarin on Weibo, stating that she will be taking up the post in its device and consumer division to manage the interface design of the company's products.
"Based on our plan, Huawei is going to set up a user experience design studio in the U.S., tracking and leading pioneering design concepts in the industry, working with China's domestic design teams to provide the best user experience of Huawei's ultimate products," reads the translation of Huawei's statement.
While the smartphone market has been dominated by Apple and Samsung, Huawei is now gaining a foothold against both of the two tech giants in the industry. The Chinese manufacturer has recently cemented its position as the third-largest smartphone vendor, gaining strong growth and market presence in China and Europe this year. With the appointment of Brody to oversee the user interface of the company's devices, Huawei will more than likely play a significant part in the lucrative smartphone industry.
