'Doom' Update: Game Shows Impressive Graphic Designs On Nvidia GeForce GTX Cards

If there a first-person shooter video game that fans are eagerly waiting for, it is no other than "Doom" from id Software. The new instalment in the popular franchise is nearing its release. Luckily enough, gamers get to have an overview of its graphics design, thanks to Nvidia.

The new game will arrive on Friday, May 13, and will boast of exceptional gameplay features. But not until Nvidia unleashed the game's overall look during its launching of the new GeForce GTX cards did fans have a look-see.

According to The Verge, "Doom" ran fair enough despite being plugged at 60fps rate while played on a Titan X video card. The Vulkan Application Program Interface (API) is also worth noting, especially when deemed as the only successor to OpenGL. The Vulkan API offers a great open-source alternative to Microsoft's titular DirectX API (the go-to coding standard for PC game graphics for the past few years).

Vulkan, as explained during the launching of Nvidia GeForce GTX cards, is basically a cross-platform, something that is not entirely limited to Windows as well as other platforms from Microsoft. The good news is that it will also support other operating systems such as Valve's Steam and Google's Android.

In related news, Time notes that the canceled version of the forthcoming new "Doom" is actually unsatisfying for fans. That despite being a good game so to speak, it is not really the kind of "Doom" game that fans would be cheering for.

The canceled version is said to have a very different aspects (i.e., story, presentation and characters). Even the setting and mechanics were far different from the official game to be released. "Doom" co-director Marty Stratton said that if gamers are to sit down and play the canceled game, they would notice how it does not resonate with the popular franchise.

It is also interesting to know that the fourth instalment in the series is somewhat inspired by the popular film "The Matrix." The characters in the multiplayer campaign is in one way or another a simulation. Fans will notice people instantly spawning in and/or teleporting into a prematch location.
