Samsung Gear Fit 2 To Be Out Next Month In Korea: Rumors

While several weeks ago rumors about the release of the much anticipated Samsung Gear Fit 2 was leaked, the fitness tracker appears to be near the most awaited date and may possibly arrive next month, the Ecumenical News reported.

According to a Korean website Pulse News, Samsung's Gear Fit 2 development has already been completed, and the company is now making final touches before launching. Ecumenical News, however, noted that the device might likely be unveiled first in its home base.

The second generation of Gear Fit is reportedly surprising. Its function is more focus on fitness and health, Android Authority said. The Gear Fit 2 is not only equipped with the step counter and heart rate monitor, just like its predecessor, but also a GPS module -- an advantage for those who leave their phones at home when taking off for a jog or the like.

Although this is not Samsung's first wearable tech equipped with a built-in GPS, the Gear Fit 2 is the company's first bio processor with a fitness tracker. What is a bio processor in the first place? According to Android Authority, it is a chip used to collect and process physiological data such as skin temperature, galvanic skin response, electrocardiogram and bioelectrical impedance analysis, to name a few.

The report further added that Samsung's bio processor is capable of measuring body fat, her rate, heart rhythm, stress level, among others -- these are way more advanced than older types of wearables in the market.

In addition, based on leaks from the Internet, the device will come in three colors, including black, blue and purple. Specs include a 1.84-inch curve OLED display with storage capacity of up to 4GB. Other rumors reveal that Samsung will also be rolling out the Gear IconX wireless earbuds, which is a stand-alone music player.

Pulse News further revealed the device is the "brainchild" of the company, hinting that Gear Fit 2 is possibly supported by mobile payment - but that is yet to be confirmed. And thankfully, the rumored release date is just around the corner.
