Right after CD Projekt Red announced the upcoming "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" DLC, many were enthused with the kind of excitement it would bring. And along with the anticipations, speculations about "The Witcher 4" rose. Sadly, fans will not be getting any, as the studio aims to release "Blood and Wine" as their last card for the franchise.
Talking to Eurogamer, the Poland-based video game publisher's co-founder Marcin Iwinski confirmed that they will not be developing another "Witcher" game in the future. Iwinski reiterated that the "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" will have "Blood and Wine" as its final DLC, placing all stories regarding a new "Witcher" game 6 feet down under.
It should be noted that CD Projekt Red once announced their plans to release another game this year, hence the "The Witcher 4" speculations. Eventually, people learned that the unannounced game is actually a new title in which its format is something that the company has yet to explore.
CD Projekt Red has set its eye on "Cyberpunk 2077," which is an action role-playing video game pencilled for a 2017 release. But apart from this, the company is also said to be releasing a triple-A RPG some time around 2017 and 2021.
Sure, fans can continue hoping that the unnamed game could somehow be "The Witcher 4" game; however, with what Iwinski had said, it is only right to say that a brand new "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" downloadable content "Blood and Wine" will be the last expansion they could get.
As for Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" game director, Gamespot notes that he has since expressed his interest to return to the popular series once every pending work is done.
In one way or another, Tomaszkiewicz hopes to continue working as he personally loves the franchise's setting. It is worth noting that he has been working on "The Witcher" installments for more than 12 years already. However, he himself has no concrete idea as to what CD Projekt Red's final decision will be in the future.
