The newest installment in the X-Men franchise, "X-Men: Apocalypse," may have been met with polarizing views but one thing is universally true: the vintage cars used were simply stunning. The movie has two clear winners in this department, an unidentified Jaguar and a 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket.
The Jag can be seen early in the film when it pulls up to the driveway of the Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Unfortunately, it is an unidentified model but the Jaguar emblem can be clearly seen at the rear.
As for the Oldsmobile Rocket, it can be seen being driven around by Scott Summers who is also known as Cyclops. In fact, it can be seen in several scenes. Between the two vintage cars, they have a combined screen time of around 40 seconds, Auto News reported.
The two marques are part of the top 5 most visible brands in the film. The Oldsmobile got the most screen time at around 30 seconds in total while the Jaguar got around 13 seconds. There are other cars, of course, including Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce, Dodge and Peugeot.
Concave estimated that the advertising value of the Jaguar is around $288,000 to $385,000. The 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket, on the other hand, did not have an estimated advertising value but it does come in number 3 as the most visible brand. Jaguar was at number 5.
It is interesting to note that "X-Men: Apocalypse" features a very wide range of vehicles and marques. Traditionally, movies would partner up with carmakers for this very purpose. For instance, Jaguar is very much associated with the James Bond franchise. It also featured prominently in "Furious 7", "Entourage", "Gone Girl", and "Mad Max: Fury Road".
The Oldsmobile Rocket also made appearances in different films such as 'Black Mass', 'Tomorrowland', 'Bridge of Spies', and 'Pitch Perfect'. For the most part, the Oldsmobile cars are used to denote the era in which the movies are set. It is also worth noting that Oldsmobile is already a defunct brand and has been the case since 2009.
