Say it isn't so! "No Man's Sky," the much-anticipated survival video game that was purported to be released next month, has been delayed - to the disappointment of fans. Game developer and publisher Hello Games initially teased that the game would hit the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows by June 24.
A literal game changer broke the hearts of expecting fans when Hello Games founder, Sean Murray, broke the news on the video game's delayed release date. Murray also acknowledged that many fans will be disappointed to hear the news, but he quipped that they are willing to make tough decisions to deliver a high-quality game.
"As we approached our final deadlines, we realised that some key moments needed extra polish to bring them up to our standards. I have had to make the tough choice to delay the game for a few weeks to allow us to deliver something special," Murray wrote on the PlayStation Blog.
Further explaining the reason for the delay, Murray wrote: "The universe of No Man's Sky is incredibly vast. More than you can imagine. This is a type of game that hasn't been attempted before, by a smaller team than anyone would expect, under an intense amount of expectation... For all our sakes though, we get one shot to make this game and we can't mess it up."
Now, instead of waiting for the game this June, fans should expect the game to hit the U.S. market on August 9, while U.K. players can expect it to arrive on August 12. Meanwhile, players from other parts of Europe will get their hands on "No Man's Sky" come August 10, as per Stuff.
"No Man's Sky" is a survival game set in a distinct universe comprising 18 quintillion planets, which players can explore. The planets are procedurally generated instead of being predefined, making each player exploration unique from each other.
The sci-fi video game's initial release date was announced in 2013, according to The Verge. Murray publicly demonstrated the game during the Sony E3 press conference in June 2015.
