Finally, Microsoft is doing what it should have done years ago, bringing Internet Explorer to the Xbox 360. From day one out of the box, the Sony PlayStation 3 had a browser, and while the browsing experience is no worse that browsing on computer from the mid-90s, it was good for doing basic things when not fully inclined to drop the controller to go around the desktop/laptop.
The version of IE being tested on the Xbox 360 is IE9, which is by far a lot better than the browser on Sony's PS3. Apart from being better than what the PlayStation 3 has to offer, Microsoft is adding some cool features to make the experience easy as possible on a console that wasn't designed with the browser in mind. According to sources, Internet Explorer 9 will have Bing Voice search capabilities along with Kinect gestures and Kinect voice control heavily into the experience. Isn't it awesome?
The Xbox 360 has twice the RAM of the PlayStation 3, so browsing the entire Web via the 360 shouldn't be a problem, unless you come across a RAM hungry website. Just like the metro version of Internet Explorer for Windows 8, we expect Microsoft to design Internet Explorer 9 for the Xbox 360 in similar fashion. Better yet, if Microsoft really wants Internet Explorer 9 to perform on its console, then it needs to do away with Adobe Flash in favor of all things HTML5. This way, users won't experience a lot of crashes and slowdowns caused by the Flash plug-in.
We have no idea when Microsoft plans to launch Internet Explorer 9 on the Xbox 360, but with E3 just around the corner, it is highly possible the company might announce something about this, along with showing off how it works in reality.
