First Look at Samsung's Note 6, 7: Leak Reveals Specs, Features & More

Some leaks on specs for the Samsung's Galaxy Note 6 or 7 include curious sensors, USB-C port, screen upgrade and more. There's plenty to look forward to before the August/September release date.

Leaks on the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 or 7 specs are running around the rumor mill, sparked by a Twitter source. It's apparent from leaked blueprints the devices will have mysterious, yet exciting features.

Twitter Leaks New Specs

The specs were revealed by OnLeaks on Twitter, which fuelled a couple of rumors. A notable feature is the adoption of the USB-C port on the Samsung Galaxy Note 6, configured for faster battery charging and data transfers.

The USB-C port allows both ends of the cord to be plugged either way, but Samsung has yet to confirm if it will adopt a USB 3.1 or older standard. This is in compliance to the trend of Android devices adopting the USB-C port. The trade-off is the device's compatibility with existing hardware, like the Samsung Gear VR headset.

Design Consistent With The Galaxy Line

USwitch reports the design is similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge; one of the distinctions is the stylus aperture definitive of Galaxy Note devices. The blueprints also hint of a curved screen, but it's yet to be confirmed if the design is for the Note 6 or 7.

Iris Scanner For Biometric Access?

There's also a curious feature shown on the leak: above the screen, near the edge, are three sensors with mysterious functions. It's speculated that at least one of these sensors is an iris scanner that serves as the device's security feature. Biometric information enables users to unlock the device just by looking at it.

The dimensions of the Galaxy Note 6 (153.5mm x 73.9mm x 7.9mm) is in line with the previous version, and slightly larger than the Galaxy S7 Edge (150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7mm). The display is expected to feature Quad HD or 2K resolution, but some reports even hint of a 4K screen.

A battery upgrade of 3,700mAh to 4000mAh is serious step-up to the Galaxy Note 5's 3000mAh, but this is pending confirmation. It's doubtful the 12 megapixel camera will be upgraded, even though sources insist this could be beefed up to 20 megapixels.

The market can expect the Galaxy Note 6 or 7 release dates on third quarter 2016, with both devices possibly powered by Android marshmallow.
