Moto Z: 5 Things To Know About Lenovo, Motorola’s Upcoming Smartphone

This Thursday, June 9, Motorola is about to unveil to the world its latest flagship device since releasing three mid-range devices a few weeks ago. The new device is reportedly called the Moto Z and it definitely brings something new to the table with its modular design.

1. Custom Back Covers

The new device is a product of Motorola's work under Lenovo. It can be noted that the latter bought the former from Google in January 2014. The latest leak info about the purported flagship Moto device, following the X line, claims that it will come with customizable back casing, GSM Arena reported.

The custom back covers will include wood options and leather versions. While some back covers will simply act as a casing, there are going to be versions that will bring additional functionality to the smartphone.

2. Moto Mod Attachments

The leaked images of hellomotoHK confirmed the presence of Moto Mod attachments or the modules that can easily be attached and detached to the Moto Z. One of the modules will have JBL speakers to enhance the audio volume and sound quality of the smartphone. Another module will rock a powerful Hasselblad camera for a more professional camera technology. There is also a module that comes with a projector, as per TechnoBuffalo.

3. Two Smartphone Versions

Interestingly, there is not just a single Moto Z smartphone that consumers could look forward to at Lenovo's Tech World in San Francisco this week. There will be two variants of this flagship, a Moto Z Style and a Moto Z Player.

The Moto Z Style is going to arrive with a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display, while the Moto Z Play will rock a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED screen. The former is expected to have a 13MP back camera. On the other hand, the Moto Z Play will come with a 16MP primary shooter.

4. Carrier

There isn’t any word yet on which carriers will be selling the Moto Z Style and Moto Z Player once the phones are launched to the public. However, Verizon is also expected to have one Droid-branded variant from the two and it would most likely have a distinct metal design.

5. Pricing

When it comes to pricing, the Moto Z Style is expected to be more expensive with a price tag ranging between $400 and $500. Meanwhile, the Moto Z Player will most likely cost a $100 dollar less than its sister device.
