Paradox Interactive proved themselves as one of the biggest players when it comes to 4X grand strategy games, as "Stellaris" continues to acquire well-received reviews. While it seems to have everything it needs to be a good name, the devs know it lacks one thing -- a platypus. Just because it introduces a futuristic setting, it does not necessarily mean a semiaquatic mammal will not be a fit.
According to Kotaku, the studio is set to release a "Stellaris" patch, which is called "Clarke." Interestingly, Paradox derived the name from the titular sci-fi author Dildon Clarke. It should be noted that this will be the first ever patch since the game's release.
The "Clarke" patch will introduce the duck-billed platypus in a 2200 setting, adding fun (and yeah, a platypus race) to the "Stellaris" gameplay. As of this writing, the developers are still putting the said patch under an internal QA testing. Nonetheless, its beta version might come sooner than expected.
While the mammal is surely a great addition to have, the "Clarke" patch will arrive with a handful of noteworthy improvements to the game's AI mode and user interface, too. Moreover, the upcoming "Stellaris" update will reportedly address the various bugs and issues, while bringing solid balance to the game.
As outlined in the Paradox Forum, the patch's main target will be the game's UI, particularly the diplomacy and sectors areas. With it, players will be able to manage their sectors straight from the outliner. The diplomatic notifications, on the other hand, will be pretty much detailed than before.
The so-called End of Combat interface is also expected to receive a major overhaul. As for the AI mode, huge improvements will arrive. One is that the mode's handling of building, pops and spaceports, among others, will be further enhanced. Second, the issues in AI handling various fleets will be fixed. Lastly, AIs will have less restrictions in terms of trades and border access.
Paradox claims that the first "Stellaris" patch is nearing its full development. And as soon as it is done, their devs will start working on the next patch called Asimov.
