'The Witcher 3' Update: 'Blood And Wine' Raises The Bar, 'Gwent' To Become A Standalone Card Game

"Blood and Wine" is by far the most highly anticipated DLC for "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" game. After all, it is the last and final expansion for the title. A goodbye of sorts, if one might want to put it that way. Nonetheless, as expected from CD Projekt Red, the said DLC has raised the bar and delivered expectations. Meanwhile, the game's so-called "Gwent" will reportedly be further developed as a standalone card game in the future.

CD Projekt Red has already announced in the past that the final DLC for "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" will be "Blood and Wine." The studio has no plans of developing any follow-ups and/or spin-offs for the franchise. Hence the said expansion will be the last time that fans will see Geralt.

Sure, this can deeply saddened every "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" fan; however, the "Blood and Wine" DLC is not a half-baked effort from CD Projekt Red. Not only is it a brand new region in the series, but it also introduces a major storyline that players will surely love. However, according to The Sixth Axis, it would be best for gamers to complete the "Wild Hunt" story prior to playing the "Blood and Wine" expansion.

"Blood and Wine" will take "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" fans to a place called Toussaint. It marvels with vineyards embracing the landscape of the town, as wine is the staple in this place. As Geralt gets invited by the Duchess Annarietta (the ruler of the region), he finds out that they need his help to battle against the monster called the Beast of Beauclair. As the story goes along, players will be treated to the complexity of friendship, love and betrayal.

In conclusion, "Blood and Wine" is a must have DLC for all "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" fans. It gives them the chance to head on to adventures with Geralt, as the expansion closes the titular series. And without a doubt, it has raised the bar and delivered expectations.

In related news, Touch Arcade reports that the "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" minigame "Gwent" will soon become as a standalone card game. CD Projekt Red reportedly filed an application for trademark in Europe for a title called "Gwent The Witcher Card Game." While the company has yet to announce an officially release date, the game is believed to be free to play.
