It is no secret that Microsoft has been lagging behind in the smartphone game. Although the company has a great bearing in the technology industry as a whole, its name is often dwarfed by the likes of Apple and Samsung in terms of handheld devices. But with the success of its Surface Tablets, Microsoft may have found a new angle and entry into the market.
According to MNR daily, the Microsoft Surface Phone is still under wraps now, but will be released in March 2017. In fact, the device has yet to be confirmed. What tech enthusiasts are holding onto at this point is a comment made by Chris Capossela. Microsoft's CMO stated that there needs to be a "spiritual equivalent," in terms of a mobile phone, in the Surface series.
The public has thus speculated that the Microsoft Surface Phone has long been in development, under the code name Juggernaut Alpha. All things at this point are just rumors and educated guesses, but it is said that the company is putting everything it has into this new phone. The device may even have all the powers of a PC.
The Microsoft Surface Phone may have come in three different variants, as The Country Caller claims. The lowest will support 4Gb of RAM and 64GB of storage; the middle will have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage; and the highest end will have 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
All units are expected to carry the latest Microsoft 10 Mobile OS, as well as other share other design elements already present in the Microsoft Surface Pro Tablets. Impressively, the device is expected to have a 21 megapixel Carl Zeiss back camera and 10 megapixel front camera. It should also come with a built-in QWERTY keyboard, and a kickstand that looks very much like the one found in the Surface Tablets.
