Diablo 3 Korean Players Want Chinese Players Banned

Diablo 3's record sales ensured plenty of gamers played the highly anticipated title, even if Blizzard did experience server issues, with some completing the game in less tha ten hours. That was in the East, though not in China where the game isn't available, with reports of players obtaining pirated copies and signing into Asian servers.

As a result, Korean gamers - who are playing the game - asked Blizzard to ban Chinese IPs while "players have been pelting Chinese players with foul language and exhortations to stop playing on other countries' servers," Tech in Asia reported. The Web site added Chinese players are reportedly causing downtime in other countries.

Diablo 3 also usess a Global Play feature, which brings players of the same continent together by integrating previously-separated servers. "[...] Korean gamers calls for Chinese players to be banned from the servers has raised the ire of Taiwanese players who along with Chinese players are now engaged in a multi lingual war of words on the official Korean 3 Diablo site," Tech in Asia added.

Blizzard hasn't revealed how it will tackle the problem, though Tech in Asia said a Korean representative admitted the case was complicated and Blizzard is looking for a solution to satisfy all the regions.

This isn't the first issue Diablo 3 has had since launch: earlier, the game showed 3003 errors, which stopped players from logging in and caused fans to complain about spending $60 and downloading the client only for the game to go down. Reports also surfaced of accounts being hacked - or "bought," as one hacker said - with items and gold stolen. Blizzard since issued an apology on its forums, and assured fans hacks were not being performed outside of traditional log-in methods.

For potential players who want to demo Diablo 3, the Starter Edition is available which allows players to play most of Act 1. For now it's confined to guest pass invites, which are given along with a Diablo 3 purchase, though the service will open to all players from June 2012.
