LG is finally making its presence felt in the smartphone market. The Korean electronics company has announced that it has surpassed three million units.
According to the company statement, LG Electronics' (LG) global sales of its Long-Term Evolution (LTE) line of smartphones have reached three million units, positioning it among the frontrunners in the competitive LTE market. The company attributes its success to its ability to cater to the needs of consumers in South Korea, North America and Japan.
LG Electronics released its first LTE phone Revolution on the largest U.S. carrier, Verizon Wireless, in last year May. This year also the company has released Optimus LTE, which has already sold more than one million units in Korea.
In a statement today, the President/Chief Executive Officer of LG Mobile Communications Co, Dr. Jong-seok Park, said "Improving user experience is at the core of LG's vision and we'll continue to lead trends in the LTE smartphone market by offering features that will benefit the lives of our users."
LG Electronics currently sell its LTE smartphones in 10 countries. But by the end of 2012, the number of countries selling LG phones will increase to over 20 countries, reports the company.
