Pictures of the Black Matte Tesla Model 3 prototype displayed last month at Tesla's headquarters in Palo Alto have just emerged online.
Tesla Model 3 has been spotted several times before outside of the unveiling event, according to Electrek. However, it is a rare occasion to see the prototype vehicle. According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, people have responded well to the color of the Black Matte version.
According to The Verge, the car is still in its prototype stage and it won't actually ship until late 2017. However, thousands of customers have already registered with preorders.
Tesla Motors has announced that the upcoming car will go more than 215 miles on a charge. The price tag of the Model 3 will start at $35,000. However, with added options it will be possible to reach a much higher price.
Tesla Model 3 combines safety, performance real world range and spaciousness into a premium sedan. This is supposed to be the most affordable car from Tesla yet and it is designed to attain the highest safety ratings in every category.
Tesla Motors Inc. has been able to offer its first mass-market offering, the Model 3, by substantially bringing down its battery costs. This has been achieved by the high-tech auto company along with its battery partner, Panasonic Corporation, via large-scale production at its Gigafactory.
The battery-maker Panasonic is responsible for producing battery cells at the Gigafactory, while Tesla Motors owns and operates the gigantic battery plant. The Japanese company expects to double its battery sales for the next three years, after seeing high level of Model 3 reservations, according to The Country Caller.
Kenji Tamura, Panasonic VP of Automotive & Industrial Systems Company, declared that by March 2019 the annual car battery sales will likely expand to JPY 400 million ($3.97 billion), up from JPY 180 billion by the year ended March 2016.
Musk revealed last month that, under existing agreement at the Gigafactory, Panasonic will remain the exclusive battery cell supplier for the Model S/X as well as the Model 3.
