The release of the 2016 Nexus phones from HTC, currently codenamed Marlin and Sailfish, are due to come out within the year. This means that the official launch of both items is only drawing nearer and nearer. There is a lot of anticipation of the phones, as the Nexus line has received a good following. Naturally, fans only got more excited when news circled that HTC would be providing color options this year.
As Uber Gizmo recalls, the colorful renders came in red, black, white and silver. However, the renders were created based only information received and not necessarily the actual unit. Therefore, the images were not official and cannot be taken as complete truth. In fact, David Ruddock, who made the original renders admits that "the shape of the phone on these 'renders' isn't even right," and that "none of these colors exist."
If the HTC Nexus Marlin and HTC Nexus Sailfish do come out with a little more color, this will be the first time since the Nexus 5. But even the Nexus 5, there was only three options to choose from.
9 to 5 Google does note, however, that the Marlin and Sailfish may come in an electric blue. The blue version is a third option to the traditional dark gray and white options.
The specs of the devices are similar to each other. In fact, both will have a Qualcomm processor, will run on 4GB of RAM and will come with an option of 32GB and 128GB of internal storage. Both the Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish will also have a 12MP rear camera and 8 megapixel front camera. They will also share a USB Type C port and bottom-firing speakers.
However, the Marlin will have a bigger 5.5 inch display and a stronger 3450mAH battery. On the other hand, the Sailfish will have a 5 inch screen and 2770mAh battery.
