Google has recently made two exciting announcements that pair together quite well. The first is the official title of their latest operating system, which the company has dubbed Android Nougat. The other, consists of the specs for their upcoming Nexus phone, which will be the first to house Android Nougat.
Android Police noted that there has been much anticipation regarding Google's new OS, which is the sequel to the current Android Marshmallow. Android Nougat will reportedly reach its final beta built by the end of the month. This deadline is leading many to believe that the OS will be ready to roll out by August of this year.
As for the specs of the upcoming Nexus 2016 phone, University Herald has given some insight. It would seem the upcoming handheld will be a good follow up to the lastest Nexus phones, the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X, which were both well received. The 2016 Nexus phone is currently being called the Nexus Marlin. HTC is said to be manufacturing it.
The screen will reportedly be 5.5 inches, with an AMOLED display in 2K resolution at 2560 x 1440 pixels. Though not yet confirmed, the device will likely be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor and will have 4 GB of RAM.
The Nexus Marlin will come in 2 internal storage options, namely 32 GB and 128 GB. The rear camera of the device will be 12 megapixels, while the front camera will be 8 megapizels.
There are other specs of the unit, which are at this point just speculations. One is that the device will sport a USB Type-C Port and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Others are that it will have bottom-firing speakers and that the batter will be 3450mAh.
The release date of Nexus Marlin is uncertain at this point. However, because Android Nougat is set to debut in the device, it is highly likely that the Nexus Marlin will hit the market in August as well.
