Xiaomi, the fifth largest smartphone maker in 2015, will release a laptop to rival Apple's Macbook Air. This smartphone will have an Intel Core i7 processor. The units will come with an 11-inch and 13-inch screen and a sleek finish.
Similar to the Macbook Air, the Xiaomi's clone will have a dual core processor, 4 threads with base speeds of 2.50GHz and turbo speeds of 3.10GHz. The design will have tapered edges and only one USB port. It will run on Windows 10 and 8 GB of RAM. To cut production costs, it will not have a touchscreen feature.
The 13-inch version is predicted to have a stronger processor. Both versions will have faster chargers with the USB Type-C port. This feature is also seen on the 2016 12-inch MacBook.
Many Apple followers are excited to see the new Macbook Air. This latest edition on the Air line is said to have features such as an OLED Touch bar, the MacOS Sierra with Siri, wireless charging, and Touch ID finger scanner. It is set to be launched in September.
Apple intends to push up sales as other companies are getting more aggressive and garnering a bigger market share. To date, Apple is at the fifth spot. The first spot is taken by Lenovo and HP is in second place. Dell and Asus are on the third and fourth spot respectively.
With the arrival of the new Xiaomi laptop, Apple faces an even tougher competition. Apple suffered an 8.3 percent sales dip last month.
Xiaomi is set to announce the official release date of the clone in July 2016.
