Blackberry To Focus On Software, Refuses To Touch Handsets; Further Announcements To Be Made Next Week

The recently held BlackBerry Security Summit was not going to have anything to do with mobile inquires. The company made it very clear from the get-go that any upcoming devices were not going to be discussed, because BlackBerry had much more to offer than just handhelds.

BlackBerry's CEO, John Chen, presided over the conference. As Crack Berry reports, he made it clear early on that mobile units would not be the focus of the summit. "People always ask me about handsets, but we do a lot more than handsets... We are becoming a strong professional services provider," Chen stated.

He went on to explain that the new mobile devices would be explained at a later date. That is, next week, with their COO Ralph Pini overseeing the discussion. Chen did make it clear, however, that their mobile unit was doing well, so there should be no reason to think otherwise.

Over the years, BlackBerry has lost its standing in the mobile industry, but it has continuously tried to stay relevant. In fact, BlackBerry has kept itself afloat. Further, the company's upcoming releases are expected to shape up quite nicely.

As Tech Times adds, the devices are currently dubbed the BlackBerry Neon, BlackBerry Argon and BlackBerry Mercury. The Argon is expected to arrive sooner than the others, as it will come to the market by this October.

The BlackBerry Argon will reportedly be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, a 3000mAh batter and will run on 4GB of RAM. These are standard in most devices currently in the market, as is the Argon's standard 32GB internal storage option. However, it will have a 5.5 inch quad HD display where users can properly view their photos and videos. The media will be beautifully taken with the BlackBerry Argon's 21 megapixel rear camera and 8 megapixel front camera. The device will also have Quick Charge 2.0 support, a fingerprint scanner and a USB Type C outlet.

More details will be revealed for all three upcoming handhelds in the discussion by Pini held next week.
