Rotten Tomatoes has yet again given a horrible review on DC movie "Suicide Squad," and fans are not letting them get away with it. There is now an ongoing petition shut down the site that fans believe to have a bias towards Marvel movies as opposed to the ones from DC.
"Suicide Squad" is the third DC movie released on the big screen, coming after "Man of Steel" and "Batman vs. Superman." For the three times that DC Extended Universe released movies since 2013, it has gotten horrible reviews from the critics of Rotten Tomatoes.
According to Entertainment News, DC fans have come up with a petition to shut down Rotten Tomatoes, due to its allegedly biased reviews on Marvel's movies. The petition has been filed on Change.org and has already gotten over 15,000 signatures to date.
Rotten Tomatoes has been around since 1998, using a formula to calculate the overall reaction of the audience based on other reviews as well. Recently, "Suicide Squad" has only gotten a 32 percent approval rating from the site. This is opposed to Marvel movies, which usually earn upwards of 80 percent when it comes to the approval rating from critics of the review aggregator.
Huffington Post reported that according to critic Richard Lawson, he called "Suicide Squad" as "too shoddy and forgettable to even register as revolting." This review, among many others, has led to the poor rating of 34 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
A 22-year-old student in Egypt was the one who launched the petition under the reason that he felt there has been an obvious pattern of giving bad reviews to DC Extended Universe movies. The movie "Suicide Squad" is due to be on theaters this Friday. Despite the movie having been one of the most anticipated movies to watch this year, the bad reviews could lead to fans ultimately being discouraged to watch the film.
