Video game fans are celebrating the end of "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League" after the game failed to meet expectations. Unlike the usual bittersweet reactions when popular games release their final story updates, players have expressed relief over the game's conclusion.

Many had a lot of expectations for Rocksteady Studios' focus on the "Suicide Squad," as not only is its name synonymous with the success of the "Batman Arkham" franchise but also because the anti-hero team is heavily regarded in the comics.

However, there were many problems that Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Games faced with "Suicide Squad's" development, with the game failing to deliver on its promises when it arrived.

'Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's' Ending Is Here

The final Season 4 update of "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League" is now available for players to download and play, and according to ComicBook Gaming, the mess that is Rocksteady's game is finally over. Rocksteady went forth with a fresh take on featuring the anti-hero team as the protagonists in a format where players get to fill their shoes and take out the strongest heroes of the planet.

*WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD*

While Rocksteady was able to fulfill that by featuring "Suicide Squad's" Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Killer Shark, and Deadshot going up against these mighty heroes and taking them down successfully, the surprise twist is that they are only clones.

However, Diana of Themyscira is dead in the game's story after she met her end at the hands of Superman's evil clone, and was not retconned in this ending like her pals from the superhero team.

That being said, the "Suicide Squad" was later joined by the real "Justice League" to fight against the big bad villain of the game, Brainiac, and get rid of him once and for all.

Players Celebrate 'Suicide Squad' Game's Conclusion

Despite the game's story conclusion, players are celebrating that this is the last of the mess that is "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League," and its canon story is already closed after less than a year. It is speculated that this may be the last game from Rocksteady in the "Batman Arkham" series after it failed miserably among the gaming community.

Is 'Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League' a Flop?

Instead of pushing through with Rocksteady Studio's famed recipe for success with the "Batman Arkham" games, the company took a wild turn when they announced that they are making a "Suicide Squad" game instead. The game was originally announced in 2020 and was promised a 2022 release, but Rocksteady asked for more time on its development, and this began its string of rotten luck.

Because of the massive delays, fans expected that "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League" would be a well-thought-out game and that it would deliver a meaningful story, but that was not the case when it came out in 2024. Fans were disappointed with how Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Games developed the game, with its story, gameplay mechanics, and more not clicking in the market.

Despite these issues, the game ran for over a year and followed its seasonal releases, which feature the title's progressing story on how the Suicide Squad sized up the Braniac-controlled Justice League. Rocksteady Studios had a surprising twist on "Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's" ending, which showed that the anti-hero team Waller fought were only clones, and the good guys still prevailed at the end, except for Wonder Woman.
