Acer Takes on Apple with Windows 8 Tablets, Ultrabooks and AiO

Acer revealed a new range of products including Ultrabooks, tablets and All-in-One (AiO) just one day before Computex kicks off. All these products feature the new Windows 8 operating system with new hardware designs.

The Taiwan based PC manufacturer showed off all their Windows 8 based devices in a press conference in Taipei. The first one, which might remind people of Macbook Air is called the Aspire S7. This ultrabook is available in two different screen size, 13.3-inch and 11.6-inch. There is no information available about Aspire S7's processors but it will be running the next generation Windows operating system for sure.

Acer also revealed two tablets running Windows 8. The new Iconia W510 features a 10.1inch screen. An attractive feature of this tablet is its attachable keyboard that can increase W510's battery life by up to 18 hours.

Acer's W700 features an 11.6-slate with 8 hours of battery life. This tablet includes an attachable "cradle" that can be used as a stand. Another attractive feature of this tablet is its three USB ports.

Acer's all-in-one Aspire U series is another Windows 8 product released by the Taiwan based company. This 27-inch based AIO features a full HD display. Its 64-point multitouch that can be titled to 90 degrees is another noticeable feature of this device.

Acer's CEO JT Wang believes his company is heading in the right direction. There is no pricing detail or technical specs available for any of these devices yet. But these devices are expected to be available after Windows 8's official release. People can expect to see some more attractive Windows 8 devices at this year's Computex show.
