Tech giant Google will present a new design for settings apps on the new 2016 Nexus smartphones to be able to accommodate its new Google Support tool. This is a new way to trigger the ambient display mode through double-tap, as well as the Night Light feature that turns the display into red to have an easier browsing at night.
Google is seemingly developing a refurbished color theme for the Settings menu which will be dark grey, white and blue on the mix. The new Nexus devices will get a dual-pane UI that shows the sections for 'support' and 'all'. There will be a new option for Night Light that needs to be manually turned on and can be adjusted depending on the sunrise or sunset. However, you can also set it automatically by making a custom schedule.
The developer preview of Android N had a Night Mode but was later scratched. According to the reports of Android Police, Dan Sandler, one of Android team's leads, said that the night mode is not performing as expected and it does not live up to the standards of Google. Therefore, it would not be a part of the new Android version. Despite of this carefully-worded explanation, we all know Google wants to present a number of features in particular to its Nexus devices. The removal of night mode in Android 7.0 was largely technical, which means the feature has encountered multiple performance issues.
Currently, we do not know what Google is planning regarding the night mode feature. According to Fone Arena, the upcoming Nexus devices will feature ambient display with double tap gesture. Double-tapping your screen will activate ambient display mode. The new Nexus devices are named Marlin and Sailfish and are scheduled to be launched next month.
