Based on the entry made by the author himself, a special edition book will be released, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first book of the 'Song Of Ice And Fire' series, "A Game of Thrones."
It is no secret how the fans have long been waiting for the release of the sixth book of the series "A Song of Ice and Fire," entitled "Winds of Winter." However, much to both their dismay and disappointment at the same time, the book is still on hold. However, the wait may well be worth it.
George R.R. Martin recently announced the release of a special edition book, in honor of the 20th anniversary of the first book of the series, "Game of Thrones." The author announced the revelation himself, on his Live Journal, yesterday.
On Martin's journal entry, he reminisced about when he first published his book, twenty years ago. He recalled how when he started, he didn't have much of a crowd when he went on book signing tours. He then noted how much has changed in the past twenty years.
Amidst all his nostalgic post, he made one great announcement that was never expected by any of the fans of his book. Quoted, he said "First published on August 1st, 1996, A 'Game of Thrones' marks its twentieth anniversary today. In celebration of the fantasy masterpiece that started a cultural phenomenon, we're excited to announce the publication of a special illustrated edition."
The book will be entitled "A Game of Thrones: The Illustrated Edition" and it will be on sale on October 18, 2016. Unfortunately, this news has further delayed the release of his sixth book on the series, "Winds of Winter."
According to Ecumenical News, Martin's publisher said that the release date of "Winds of Winter" remains unknown. Nonetheless, George R.R. Martin is currently working on it and once it is finished, the release date will be announced.
