Final Fantasy fans can now relive the experience brought by the hit franchise on their mobile phones - thanks to Mobius Final Fantasy. The latter is basically a smartphone game developed for both Android and iOS. But is the game really worth playing? Well, for die-hard fans of the franchise, the verdict leans towards a no.
Overall, Mobius Final Fantasy does not fail to impress. After all, it should be an easy favorite given that its lore is heavily inspired from the highly celebrated Final Fantasy franchise. But, in one way or another, it is just not enough.
Mobius Final Fantasy allows players to control an amnesiac character situated in a very odd world. They traverse on its vastness, while battling enemies and acquiring new skills. As the game progresses, the player's character becomes a tougher warrior.
The catch, however, is that Mobius Final Fantasy is just simply about fighting monsters, as noted by Pocket Gamer. It does not go beyond than that. Also, the mechanics of the gamer are too simple for avid Fiinal Fantasy fans.
To perform attacks in Mobius Final Fantasy, the screen must be tapped. In each round, players are given at least three moves from the get-go. These can be anything from sword swipes all the way to magic spells.
Fortunately though, they can buff themselves to wear protection. Moreover, there are special attacks that can be obtained via the button located at the right part of the screen. Players could also come by special collectible cards, all of which can be upgraded using a fusion mechanics.
Furthermore, there are also ways for fans to acquire new weapons on Mobius Final Fantasy. According to Twinfinite, they just need to meet certain types of prerequisites. These can all be found in the game's Skill Panel. A couple of available upgrades are listed, but they can only be equipped as long as their respective requirements are met.
Simply put, Mobius Final Fantasy is not a complete product derived from the Final Fantasy franchise. Nonetheless, the way it fits in a mobile-friendly scope is enough to make the gaming experience at least a bit interesting. But then again, it is up to the community to discover it themselves.
