Android Smartphone Sales Going Down In US

Bad time for Android smartphone sales in the US is still continuing, reported a prominent market research company.

According to comScore, the global leader in measuring the digital world, and Asymco, the number of Android phone buyers has been steadily declining in last quarter of 2012 while iPhone has seen a consistent growth every year. Dediu also noted that this is Android's slowest growth since the time of its launch in 2009.

"It's perhaps too early to suggest that we're seeing a slowdown in the U.S. for Android," Dediu mentioned. "Perhaps there will be a return to growth in the fall. The concern has to be that rather than seeing the net adds growing - as they have for two years with only two contiguous months of decline - Android net adds have been falling for four months."

Proving all the rumors of decreasing sales, BlackBerry maker Research in Motion remains steady without change, shows the comScore report.

The report also highlighted that most of the users, out of the estimated 101.3 million US smartphone subscribers, still use their phones for 'dumbphone' activities.

Meanwhile, the two biggest weapons in the Android arsenal have been released -- HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3. But at the same time, Apple is also preparing its next generation iPhone to release by the end of this year. Apple or Android, who will finally become the ruler of the smartphone market? Let time decide that.
