Pokemon Go is taking the world by storm and it is certainly one of the most popular app games to have been released recently. Niantic came out with a fix for the Nearby feature on a recent update of the game. At first, the fix was available to a limited number of users, but then it was rolled out for everyone.
According to Forbes, users who belonged to the first ones who tried the game, Sightings as the new feature is called, actually works. When the game was launched, it originally had the Nearby feature which never really worked for some players.
A Pokemon that appeared on the Nearby tab would have footprints below it. Those footprints were supposed to be indicators of the distance of the Pokemon. The problem is that there are those who never really figured out how much distance those footprints represented.
Because many users found Nearby feature to be inadequate, they turned to use other third party apps like PokeVision or PokeRadar. Niantic took action and had those apps taken down and then removed the Nearby feature as well according to Gamespot. That left many players in the dark.
With the release of the new sightings feature, fans of the game are expected to have a better time playing. Sightings would let them know when a wild Pokemon is within the vicinity. It works by pulsing the area for every ten seconds. It will then refresh the list to show any new Pokemon that is within the area.
Tracking a Pokemon detected by Sightings is still the same. You just keep on walking as long as the Pokemon is still being detected. If it disappears from the screen, that means it is out of range. The great thing about Sightings is that if it detects a Pokemon, you can be sure that it is there.
