Gigabyte has surprised people by presenting the world's lightest laptop, Gigabyte X11 at the Computex trade show this week in Taipai. This Taiwan based company, which is mostly known as a motherboard maker and vendor, has launched an ultrabook with the world's only full carbon-fiber body.
Gigabyte has gained fame by making computer parts like motherboard. But it managed to grab attention for making successful notebooks over the past few years. And now they are claiming to have made the world's lightest laptop. Gigabyte X11 is packed with an 11.6-inch screen and weighs only 975 grams. It's slightly lighter than the popular MacBook Air.
Gigabyte X11 looks similar to the Air but comes with an attractive Glossy black finish. This ultrabook will be loaded with Windows 7 and Intel's latest "Ivy Bridge" Core Processors. Other specs included in this ultrabook are 4GB of DDR3 memory, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, 128GB solid-state drive and Bluetooth 4.0.
But the secret that makes Gigabyte X11 the world's lightest laptop is its material. This laptop is entirely made of carbon fiber. This material is more durable comparing to aluminum. Users find it difficult to get keys right on slim devices but Gigabyte X11 is different. Its touchpad is made of fibre glass and works super smooth. Users will also get a 4730mAh Li-on battery.
Gigabyte is planning to release this product in the market in July. Users have to spend minimum $999 to get their hands on the world's lightest laptop.
The company has also announced two more netbook, the U2442 and the U2440 netbook. Both of them are packed with Ivy Bridge processor and will be available in the market from June.
