'Luke Cage' Season Premiere Review: What To Expect From Mike Colter

Television show runners leverage the modern world of television by providing world – class entertainment to millions of targeted viewers. Superhuman “Luke Cage” appears to be a perfect fit in our superhero universe, where reality is distant. He embodies the natural powers of brevity and inner strength with a heart that is unconditional when called for help.

Shying away from the conventional flashy costumes of Superman and Ironman, we expect a “Luke Cage” hero clad in street clothes. Just like that. (Yes, let’s be realistic then.) And to note that "Luke Cage" is the first black superhero that will be introduced on screen, that’s highly significant. In an interview with Wired, Mike Colter, who is ecstatic in playing “Luke Cage,” expressed the importance of his character to the fans. “They didn’t have any other character they could relate to, an American black guy from the streets. That became important to me.”

Having said that, Colter makes an amazing choice to carry the task of protecting the oppressed Harlem neighborhood with his own Hero for Hire career, bulletproof and unbreakable skin powers.

The Netflix trailer of “Luke Cage” showcases a man of powers whose heart goes to the belittled and often physically and financially destructed people. His famous line, I’ve got you, undoubtedly reassures the people and the city that he’s protecting that he will fight for a good cause and no one can stop him from doing so.

Forbes, with its accurate description of Luke Cage’s arrival as almost too perfect with the racial discrimination that reached headlines in the U.S. for a year about the adversities of the black, it is a grand deal to watch this show especially in upholding and promoting equality despite barriers that impact various nations.

I’m betting that Luke Cage will be a global success come September 30. Are you in?
