NBA Trade Rumors: Lakers Still Actively Shopping Nick Young

The 16-time NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers has been actively voicing out their plans on former 16th overall pick guard/forward Nick Young. Young has been involved on several cases lately which fans believed distracts his performance on the court. The most recent event that Young got involved in was the 'D'Angelo Russell's Taping' incident that caused lots of awkwardness on the entire team.

Even though the 31 year old guard/forward from USC admits on wanting to stay with the team and working things out with Russell, however, the team seems to have other plans for Young. Based on the reports, the Lakers are now focusing on their young core heading towards the future and Young may not be a part of it. According to the reports from Lakers Nation, the Lakers continues to explore possible options for Young, whether to trade him to another franchise and acquire some key pieces or buying out his contract before the August 31 deadline.

It appears that Young is trying to make an effort staying with the team. However, the organization is looking to have a fresh start heading towards the season opener. As reports say that other teams are not biting any of the trade offers with the inclusion of Young, so most probably, Lakers would buy out his contract making him as a free agent.

According to Yibada, the Lakers has reportedly moved on from Swaggy P and with the current roster of the Lakers, it would be hard for Young to get some significant minutes. Apparently, based on the reports, Young would be a great fit with Luke Walton's system being a three point specialist. However, he cannot provide good defense and not a team player which the system needs the most.

Nick Young now plays three season with the Lakers and has been on the NBA for nine years. The veteran currently averages 7.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, 0.6 assists, and 19.1 minutes per game over 54 games shooting 33 percent from deep.
