Why 'Titanfall 2' Is A Disappointment

Respawn’s technical test for Titanfall 2 last weekend ended with a highly publicized disappointment to fans.

The game developer had long-planned the Titanfalll 2 beta technical test and now that the session is live on Xbox One and PS4, it seems that the overwhelming excitement of fans and media turned into a bunch of dismay.

A Titanfall Without Titans?
Forbes stated that the surprising issue is the relative lack of Titans during matches. Titans are now given out based on performance as they are tied to how you’re doing in the match and there is no more timer unlike in the original Titanfall. Players should expect then that if they’re not making much of an impact in a match, they can finish the entire game without getting at least one Titan.

A Playground Next To Boring
The changes brought by Titanfall 2 in terms of shielding and damage make Titans less functional, hence, causing boredom to its players. Also, the pilot ground game isn’t much better as map design provides a room of less mobility, with few places to wall-run, leaving players trapped on the ground a lot more often.

These are but major concerns of the fans that need to be fixed prior to its official release on October 28.

According to MCV, Art director, Joel Emslie, expressed the need to consider a whole community that not have played Titanfall previously. “That was a challenge for us – how do we make sure that Titanfall 2 is something that anyone could pick up and you don’t need to have a played the original? For fans of the first game, we’ve added a lot of story elements and secrets that they’ll appreciate. But it’s a game that stands alone. It can reach out to that new community and they can enjoy it for the first time.”

Respawn is running a second beta from August 26th through the 28th.
