The highly anticipated Ice Cream Sandwich (android 4.0.4) update for the Motorola Droid Razr and Razr Maxx has now received a release date – June 12.
As per the sources at CNET, the RAZR fans can look forward to receive the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade sometime around June 12. The site has also described how the release for the Droid Razr was in fact scheduled for last month, but owing to a change in the servers, responsible for sending out the update, the date had to be pushed back.
Previously, Motorola had released a timetable with a promise that the Droid Razr would receive an update in the second quarter of the current year, and finally it appears that the company will keep that promise with the latest release date news.
Moreover, updates are also expected on some of Motorola's other devices including the XOOM WiFi and 3G MZ600 which are scheduled to arrive in the second quarter as well. Both Atrix 2 and the Atrix 4G MB860 are also likely to taste the Ice Cream Sandwich in the third quarter.
As far as Droid 4, Droid Bionic and Droid Xyboard are concerned, they will have to wait a little longer. But, they also can expect the upgrade to come in the third quarter, reports sources.
Even though these scheduled updates were announced prior to Google's acquisition of Motorola Mobility, there shouldn’t be any real problems like disturbance or cancellations of the upgrades. However, the dates of releases might get a bit altered, according to an Enstarz report.
